The call of the surf . . . gone to Maui! Tomoko came to Maui to pursue windsurfing in the world class waves, and competed full time in the 90's. Then snowboarding came along, she started spending more and more time in the snow and bigger and bigger mountains. It wasn ’t long before she found Alaska as snowboarding’s Northshore. And it became one place she visits whenever she has a chance. Kitesurfing - a great reason to see the world! Now, she has a 3rd love which seems to take up most of her time, kitesurfing! She has been to Greece, Turkey, Austria, Italy, England , Cabo Verde, Alaska, Japan, Baja, Dominican Republic, Canada, Fiji, New Zealand, all over the West Coast and even inland like Wyoming and Colorado searching for the great wind and waves for kiting, and list of where she hopes to go is even much bigger. Life's a beach No matter what tools she is using, the lifestyle never changes, constantly on the road, searching for unknown good spots and writing stories. Sharing the good life SAKURA camp, a women’s wave sailing camp was started 11 years ago. It has created a strong bonding between the women sailors and helped inspire to pursuit their passion in windsurfing. The kite version, Girls Kite Summit, started 5 years ago, and has served to encourage many budding female kiters as well. She hopes to continue inspiring many people, especially women, to get out in the water by offering opportunities to do so. Tomoko at work!
